Since the start of 2008 we have hosted three successful fundraising events.
The first event of the year was the Mens Scottish Evening which was held on 25th January and over 60 men attended. The evening consisted of a Scottish meal, a quiz, poetry, singing and a piper. The meal was prepared and served by female staff from The Haven Kilmacolm. The quiz, poetry and singing were held between courses finishing with a speaker, tea and coffee. The evening was successful in terms of both fundraising and awareness raising within the local community.
The second event held was the Ladies Cosmetics Evening. A representative from Virgin Vie did a make-up demonstration on a volunteer from the audience and presented the products she brought. At the end of the evening, the ladies were able to purchase products from the representative (a portion of which was donated to The Haven Kilmacolm) as well as take part in a prize draw (1st - 3rd prizes were donated by the representative). The evening was successfull and enjoyable.
The third event hosted so far was the 2008 Charity Concert. The evening consisted of a presentation by MAD Ministries, performances by John Gaughan and Celebration Puppets finishing with the production 'Rescued!' performed by The Haven Kilmacolm residents and staff. The evening was held at the Brisbane Suite in Seamill Hydro (use of the room donated to us by Seamill Hydro). All proceeds from the ticket sales, resource stall and the tombolla went to The Haven Kilmacolm. The evening was very entertaining and attended by nearly 400 individuals.
