I am 31 years old and from Saltcoats but was living in a hostel in Glasgow before coming into “The Haven”. I was surviving on 110mls of methadone a day.
When I was a toddler my mum died and when I was 16 years old my dad died from a brain tumour. It was then that I started taking drink and drugs progressing onto heroin at 23 years old.
Things spiralled downhill until I reached breaking point in the hostel in Glasgow. A Christian neighbour of my brother put me in touch with The Haven.
It was here that I became a Christian and am completely changed now. I used to struggle with the guilt from all the hurt I had caused my family but now they are proud of me. I am now feeling strong enough to cope back in the community and hope to progress a career in gardening.
